Theater Classes

Introduction to Alexander Technique
Wednesday, May 19 @ 6pm-8pm
Instructor: Tommy Schoffler
Location: Pioneer Pavilion in Savikko Park
Fee: $25

Alexander Technique is a method of bringing awareness to one's thinking and movement to achieve greater clarity and ease. In this hands-on group class, students will "map" their anatomy and explore how it might move more efficiently. Students will apply the principles of Alexander Technique to daily activities such as walking, sitting and standing, and perhaps also to the specific demands of performance or other specialized activities. Taught in many conservatories, orchestras and theatre companies, Alexander is popular with performers of all kinds, but also athletes and everyday movers. No previous experience is required; loose comfortable clothing is recommended. Class size limited to 10.

Unleashing Your Laughter - The Red Nose
Saturday, May 22 @ 1pm-4pm
Instructor: Roblin Gray Davis
Location: Pioneer Pavilion in Savikko Park
Fee: $25

“You are more interesting than anything you can make up.” - Phillippe Gaulier

Performers must always be available to play! Come search for an unstoppable sense of humor while exploring what makes you uniquely loveable as an actor. The red nose is a mask celebrating your idiosyncratic self and requires a positive, optimistic presence in the face of impending failure. This work challenges you to be more authentic, subtle, sensitive, credible, effortless, economical, and vulnerable in your acting. Class size limited to 10.
