Support Theater Alaska

Thank you for considering a gift to support the work of Theater Alaska!

Theater Alaska is a Juneau-based company founded in the summer of 2020 with a mission to connect with communities across Alaska through bright, thoughtful, and entertaining events. To increase accessibility, Theater Alaska brings free professional productions to non-traditional venues, meeting people where they are most comfortable.

These productions have included A Doll’s House, Part 2 by Lucas Hnath, the premiere of Sisters of White Chapel by Annie Bartholomew, A Midsummer’s Night Dream by William Shakespeare, and Every Brilliant Thing by Duncan Macmillian, which was a collaboration with NAMI Juneau and Juneau Suicide Prevention Coalition. We have presented productions at such public spaces as the Glory Hall homeless shelter, the University of Alaska Southeast Egan Library, Juneau Public Libraries, Sealaska Heritage Institute Clan House, Jensen-Olson Arboretum, St. Vincent de Paul shelter and affordable housing campus, the outdoor Treadwell Mine Office Building, and the Juneau High Schools. Also, we partnered with 350Juneau for the last three years to produce Climate Fair for a Cool Planet - a free, one-day, outdoor community event that features live theater, dance, and musical performances and information regarding actions that can be taken to mitigate climate change. We created the Alaska Writers Workshop, which supports the development of Alaskan playwrights, and brought professional theater artists to teach Romeo & Juliet, Much Ado About Nothing, and They Don’t Talk Back by Alaska Native playwright Frank Henry Kaash Katasse to high schools in Juneau, AK.

And we are now planning the fourth Alaska Theater Festival. This year, the Festival will feature a full-length outdoor production; Neighborhood Cabaret, which brings live music into neighborhoods in Juneau; and educational experiences for the youth in our community. We will also be producing the fourth Climate Fair for a Cool Planet in collaboration with 350Juneau.

A majority of our performances are presented free to the public in venues throughout Juneau and Douglas and are performed and produced by professional artists. All artists involved are paid and we incur other costs such as venue rental, travel, and production materials costs.

Your support makes this work possible. Thank you for your consideration and thank you to everyone who has already made a gift to Theater Alaska!
