Directed by Heidi Handelsman

Rehearsals: 6/30-7/15
Tech: 7/16-7/21
Performances: 7/22-8/9

Cry It Out by Molly Smith Metzler is a sharp, heartfelt comedy that dives into the messy, hilarious, and deeply emotional world of new motherhood. Set in a quiet backyard in Long Island, the play follows two sleep-deprived new moms who bond over coffee, baby monitors, and the exhausting reality of life with newborns.

Seeking the following roles:

[Jessie] She/her. Mid 30s. A new mom. Recently relocated from the city to the suburbs to raise her family. Educated, articulate, lovely, warm.

[Lina] She/her. Late 20s, early 30s. A new mom. Grew up here on the south shore of Long Island in a big Italian family. She’s a little rough around the edges – brash, honest, excitable, very little filter.

[Mitchell] He/him. Late 30s or early 40s. A new dad. Adrienne’s husband, works in investment capital. A math nerd who is amazing with numbers, but not people.

[Adrienne] She/her. Mid/late 30s. Mitchell’s wife. Elegant, powerful, aloof, with a slightly rock-n-roll vibe. A successful high-end jewelry designer.

We are asking that video auditions be sent by March 20. Callbacks will be on March 28 and 29 between 11 a.m.–3 p.m.
