Shaina Fernandez

Shaina Fernandez is a Level 6 ballet student at Juneau Dance Theatre and a rising senior at Juneau-Douglas High School: Yadaa.at Kalé. She began her dance training at a young age with Fusion Dance Company under the direction of Danielle Cadiente and Christa Baxter, and later joined JDT to enhance her ballet training, while continuing to dance with both programs. Shaina is also a former member of the JDT Fusion Dance Team, where she performed and competed in a wide range of dance styles including jazz, tap, hip hop, and contemporary. Shaina has danced principal and featured roles in The Nutcracker, including Dew Drop Fairy, Hot Chocolate, and Dancing Doll. In the 2024 production of Alice in Wonderland, and she was most recently featured as a soloist in Anna McDowell’s, Portrait of Alaska. Shaina has attended several JDT summer intensives, performed at community events, and appeared as a fairy in Theater Alaska’s 2022 production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
